SWMBO drops new camera :(
Discussion
We'd had it all of, ooh an hour, we get home and she drops it on the kitchen floor. Not helped by the fact that she doesn't hold it properly, more like a very delicate item, rather than something than requires you get a good hold it it & the strap so as not to drop it....
It is a Cannon IXUS 860, lens was in and it fell ~ 4ft onto lino with chipboard underneath rather than concrete.
It seems to be working fine, and the picture quality seems OK, however I'm not sure if low light performance without the flash is worse.
Comments on possible damage etc?
TIA

If it all seems to be working then I guess you are lucky, though I suspect you are hinting that the IS might be buggered?
If you were really unlucky you would get an E18 error: http://www.e18error.com/

Strange site that. I dropped a Sony P1 on it's extended lens and it gave a similar error message. My fault, couldn't fix it myself, threw it away - did't moan about it being Sony's fault though. My Panasonic LUMIX had its lens do funny things when sand got in it. Didn't think that was Panasonic's fault either.
You may think it strange - plenty of people's cameras have done the same thing with no provocation. My Canon S70 was handled really carefully, never abused, never dropped, never exposed to sand or anything.
Mine came up with the e17 error when out of warranty and is now effectively scrap. Won't be buying Canon again.
