Video, further advice please.
Discussion
Hi all
A little short of a year ago I sought advice as to which video camera and bullet camera to buy with the intention of recording some of the automotive stuff that both me and some of my buddies get up to. I settled upon a Sony DCR HC96 and the best bullet cam (Sony Based I think) that 'Dog Cam Sports' had to offer; I also bought the invaluable LANC remote, a tripod and a mic'. I'm sure all that I now have is capable of producing some quality work and I have knocked up some material which has kinda inspired me to do better so, I'm asking for a little further advice:
1 - Is there any particular recommendation for reading that will give me tips, ideas, skill development? A book aimed at the novice kinda thing.
2 - I've had my PC upgraded to cope with video/editing and have experimented with Windows Movie Maker (quite memory sapping apparently and not massively versatile) and ULead 10 which I'm currently using. The latter seems to be quite unstable and will often just drop-out or I'll get the 'This programme is not responding' frustration. So, are there any recommendations for similar software which is intuative, stable and not of rediculous cost?
Thoughts and suggestions of any kind reference my honing out some good work gratefully received.

I've found since I've been dabbling with processing using Photoshop and Paintshop it's also quite resource intensive. My machine's a bit of a Build Yer Own job, while I've stuck more memory in I'll probably upgrade the motherboard and processor at some point as I'm running an oldish Athlon. I still get the odd fit from Photoshop, although I dont use it much
I've not found Windows Movie Maker to be that heavy on previous video I've done, although generally they've been quite small files (sub 300 meg) pushed over a PCi Firewire card, and messed about with further in Nero Vision

Did you mean Ulead 10 or Pinnacle Studio 10, as the latter is/was renowned for being unstable, and version 11 is much, much better.
If you truly meant the former, then sorry I can't help, as I have no idea what version Ulead is up to with their video editing software..
Sorry, wasn't being too specific was I; it's Video Studio 10. I think they're up to 11 now.If you truly meant the former, then sorry I can't help, as I have no idea what version Ulead is up to with their video editing software..
Subsequent to posting I've had a brief read-up on one or two alternatives which include Sony Vegas and Power Director, the latter looking straight forward enough. There are also specific websites which I've yet to check-out. I'd still be grateful for anything coming through PH though as it may well have the motorsport bias I'm looking for.

This would be a good starting point before you felt the need to move onto more pro apps.
