Video Editing Issue - Why does it do this?
Discussion
I have a JVC camcorder and have recently tried to do a bit of video editing using ImageMixer v1.7 that came with the camcorder.
The camcorder is connected to the computer using a USB 2.0 cable and i get picture and sound, but the picture and sound sometimes go out of sync when i'm 'capturing' the video. Any ideas why this is?
I have tried using both Ulead 10 and Windows Movie Maker but these only seem to give me an horrific resolution (like 170 x120) and/or i dont get any sound coming through. Any ideas why this might also happen?

When you say it's losing sync, is it evident in the final movies as well, or just on the capture preview ?
Generally speaking video capture is quite a demanding task, although both the progs you're using should be able to cope with it. If you're seeing messages about "dropped frames" during capture that's an indication that either your PC or the connection isn't up to it.
Do you have the option of a firewire connection to transfer ? If so, try that to see if it's any better. I've tried capture via a graphics card and generally found that firewire is far more reliable with no dropped frames/sync problems.
I would have expected Ulead to be able to output at DVD quality, although the default might be a low setting to make the render times look faster. Rendering at 720x576 can take ages, even on a good PC.
