I got a nice deal on a new camera today - Nikon D40X..

but as the topic subject suggests, the LCD screen has a stuck pixel..always blue.

I know it wont affect the pictures I take, but its a little annoying.

Is this something that is just tough shit, or should I be taking this back to the shop to exchange for a new camera?

If it's new and it bugs you, take it back. I don't think the shop would be in a position to object.

It annoys me. Im a firm believer in things being perfect out of the box..if I break something, fair enough.
I guess I will take it back, and see what they have to say

What does it say in the handbook or the guarantee? IIRC there is usually a note/disclaimer about a few dead pixels being acceptable. The seller may swop it for you anyway, but the manufacturer might not.

all the documentation is in Japanese.
I live in Japan, however I don't read kanji, so I dont have a clue as to what it says.

I believe there's a minimum 1 year international warranty on the D40 direct with manufacturer. Other option depending on how it works locally is replacement like for like from where you bought it from rather than return and repair

You paid with perfect money, why should accept goods if they're anything but perfect?
