Any good places to buy cheap SD cards online? Is it worth going for a particular make or are they all much of a muchness? What about the SDHC ones? Worth getting or better to buy a couple of SD?

Cheers

Mike

SDHC is not automatically compatible with SD devices so check yours before buying.

7dayshop usually good on price but other places do offers from time to time - work out which card suits you and do a google product search.

Apparently my Lumix will take SDHC according to the destructions - is it a case of like USB sticks ...the higher capacity ones tend to go wrong more frequently?

If that's the case I'll look for the Sandisk Extreme ones as Gingerbread Man recommended

I think up to 2 gig are SD cards and 2 gig plus are SDHC cards? This is how I understood it.

As ,older cameras won't be able to accept SDHC cards but most new ones should be able to, if they can't it's a silly oversight.

Had a look on Play.com - admittedly some very cheap cards but they all seemed to be out of stock until 13/2 onwards .....confused

I gave up after selecting about 5 or 6 different ones only available for pre-order and got one from a different site. There's probably an easy link to the currently available ones on Play but they'd hidden it too well for me

Hmmm, I did see the Play own branders - wondered if they were any good. Might order one of those ( even though I restricted my search last night to the Sandisk ones suggested ) if you reckon they're good

Other than fleaBay, does anyone know where I can lay my hands on a SD to CF adaptor such that I can use SD cards in a CF camera? I think Maplins have one but they want 20 quid for it!! I can buy a lot of CF storage for 20 quid!

yeah, i have no regrets (other than paying £35 for a 4Gig card a couple of weeks before and there being no difference between the two!)

Sandisk are much more reliable and consistently faster than the other brands and also have a longer warranty on them. Just beware of cheap fakes around - buy from a Having said that I've not had a problem with a couple of cheap brand cards I've had, though I format the cards regularly which may help. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

Another reliable online company selling genuine cards without VAT on items under £18 is www.picstop.co.uk
