Trying to make the picture a bit more interesting.

Does vignetting work here or look too odd do you think?

Sorry - wrong forum! Would a mod move to Photography please? Ta.

Yeah I like it - but then I'm a fan of vignetting stuff myself anyway.

Thanks for the replies - just playing with Elements for pretty much the first time and trying out some new things.

I think it would be improved by cropping the photo such that the reindeer is in the centre. To me a vignette is supposed to focus attention on the subject and as such the background should be darkened.
Just my opinion.

Would need to be careful not to crop to too tight on the right though - you need some space for the deer to be "looking into", imo.

I can see where you are coming from with that but I get a feeling from the deer's eyes that he is sceptically watching you with just one eye?

I see what you mean - does this work better in your opinion?

Perhaps I'm off on this one but i feel like there is alot of random deer side in that. This is my attempt after a quick photoshop...

Second reindeer pic I'd flip so it's looking left to right. Goes with the flow of the eye.

IMHO - If you are taking a photo of an animal or bird (or insect come to that matter), it works either if you get the whole creature in, or a close up on the head/significant parts. I'm not quite sure why you've chopped the deers feet off in the top photo - with a bunch of empty space over it's head?

As I say IMHO. Perhaps a closer crop of head and antlers?

BTW - I like the vignetting - works well I think.
