Film to video transfer - advice needed please
Discussion
I have some 16mm and 35mm film of classic car club meetings from the 1930 and 40s that I'd like transferred to DVD. I don't know how old the reels of film are but suspect that some are the original copies.
What are the risks to the film of having this done? Any recommendations of places that can do it and will take good care of the film?

I have a friend who runs a company who do this kind of service - however, depending on it's age, the film could be dangerous as a flammable material (can't remember the terminology, but some kind of nitrate springs to mind?) - and as such, many professional operations won't touch it.
They are based in Nottingham however, but I guess they would happily recieve stuff by courier/post.
Costs are usually based on a "per foot of film" basis.
Let me know if you want their details.
ETA: As for looking after the film, I recently used them to transfer a lot of the original master reels of film from Twycross Zoo filming of the primates used for the TyPhoo adverts. Extremely rare and valuable (to the zoo at least) footage.
I had no worries or concerns about leaving it with them (although they rejected two reels as it was highly flammable!)
