Any one used it? Success? Looking at some highish value items and getting stung with the extra ££ would make it the same price as UK sources.

If their ad says VAT free, then they will reimburse it without any problem. You'll have to pay the tax first (if you get caught), but you scan the bill and send it to them, then they'll refund it within 24 (or 48 hrs?).

Hmmmm.

I ordered something from HK recently from OneStop (first time I've bought something from abroad). It had some paperwork on the front which I've assumed is something that has been paid already for postage.

Wonder if it's something I'm supposed to have done something with ?!? lol !

I'd look at US stores too - the dollar/pound rate is extremely favourable for us at the moment. I had a $2500 order with B&H recently. I did get clobbered 300 quid for duty & VAT but even then, the total was £1600. Compared to about £2000 if I'd bought the stuff here.

I had a "Commerical Invoice" with my package from OneStop.

Has a value of 23 Euro's. Has my delivery address on it (obviously) and the senders address.

Has a comment on it about Duty & Tax to be paid by Recipient but then no info as to how this is supposed to be paid, etc.

Invoice has been "signed" by a Mr NG ... so this could have been dealt with before it left HK ???

Package was sent on 9th Jan. I've not heard anything since and have no way of following it up.

So, up to this point, I've paid nothing.

Hmmmmmmm.

Yep.

Bought my old 20D kit and some other stuff a few years ago. Got charged VAT & Duty and paid the delivery driver by cheque.

E-mailed a copy of the customs invoice to DigitalRev and the money was back in the bank before my cheque was cashed.

Yeah, sent him a mail. I'd prefer local(ish) obviously so figures crossed he can get near the HK prices. Thanks all.

I've bought five or six lenses etc from, HK - usually OneStop but DigitalRev also. Never had to pay tax - they usually declare a value of less than $50 on the green label on the front (HK post). If there is tax to pay it will be UK tax, hence everything in English. Most couriers won't let you have the goods without paying the customs invice, and they'll usually charge an admin fee too. DOn't know if this can be claimed back.
