Nothing exciting or paticularly interesting but the shoot has proven I reckon I could happy churn stuff out now in the little studio I built.

Its been almost a year since I've done anything so some CC is welcome:

Theres always one who lowers the tone!
Ive never done studio work, and wouldnt know where to start, but i find the white is very bright, and her skin tone a little red, which hides the effect of the lighting. If that makes any sense. P.s i like B&W did you do any mono shots?

hehe this isn't the missus, its her niece! She is 18 though so you're both safe wink

Goldeeno the white is intentionally brightly blown out but no mono results yet - all done digital so if I get a second this morning I might work on some BW's too.

My next task is to get a nice modelling chair(s) and the black background installed, bought one of these last night which works nicely too. Slowly getting there...

Ooops! Sorry! Keeps it in the family though biggrin

Just a thought on portraiture, using a wide or semi wide lens needs to be used with care as you can get odd shaped noses/foreheads/chins etc if you get in too close.

Most flattering is a short telephoto that compresses the features. I find, on my D80, the bog standard 50mm Nikon lens translates into about 80mm on a film camera which is the optimum length for head and shoulder portraits.

Nice pics though!

Well the 2nd one happend on Saturday - light in the room is an issue and proving hard to control, possibly as a result of painting everything bright white but more a case of due to the sun creeping in via the window - need to use black out material there I think.

I had covered the window with my black background system but obviously the light was leaking in and causing changable results....
