Equipment loan
Discussion
I posted a similar topic a few months before Christmas but Im unable to find it
, so I shall start again.
I've been enlisted by some friends to take photographs of a selection of lovley ladies for a website. There's enough of us to think of location ideas (please add if you have any though!) but im lacking equipment, and can't justify spending several hundred pounds on some, that I will rarley use ever again!
I live in Lincoln so im on a look out for equipment hire companies. What equipment shall I need? and what prices should I be expecting? I will do some shooting outside so natural light and a reflector should do, but I will be doing a few indoor shots, and possibley a few in an old abandoned building ive had permision off.
Tips for taking them too will be much appreciated.
Regards, Jim
PS, 4 of the ladies in question:

My camera is a Pentax K10d with a 18 - 55mm kit lense.

I'm selling a proper backdrop holder (and cloth backdrops) which will be very useful.
'tis what I took the pictures in here with; www.tonyhetherington.com/Galleries/Models
It's yours for £60; 2 x large rigid tripod style stands with central pole, and then a pole that goes right between the two. I use cloth backdrops - mainly black and white but other colours in there too with clips to keep the cloth on the backdrop stand. Comes in nice packed down bag
I found it made a big difference to shooting models to have a properly set up backdrop
E-mail me through the website if you're interested.
What sort of shots do you need to take? Are there specific requirements or is it simply "nice shots of girls" ?!?!

Oooo, I should also add that if you're not particularly experienced in such phtoography, ask lots of questions here! I'm still very new at it, and it is surprisingly difficult; especially on location as there is so much more to consider than just a blank background and lighting.
This thread may be of use (check how awful my original shots are, I cringe!)

OK if you're on a tight budget (none existant) and need some lighting I would suggest a trip to HSS or similar to pick up some halogen floodlights and a generator. They will be easier to use if you don't know how to use flash heads (like me) as you will see the effect of the lighting live and meter accordingly. Be warey though, I used a generator for a shoot recently and it was very difficult to communicate with the model over the noise!
BTW I can't see the girls at work as photobucket is barred.

HSS is a good idea. I may take a trip to JTF Wholesalers as they sometimes sell them type of electric halogen lamps on tripods, and I have a power inverter for outdoors.
Tony, I am very very interested in them back drops. Are you able to send them or did you want me to pick them up?
I will have a word with a few people and will email you. Thanks for that link..I will take a look.

Not really thought about it if I'm honest - I can look at DHL costs etc, they're not mega heavy. They're by interfit, I THINK it's these exact ones;http://www.interfitphotographic.com/Accessories/Ac...
Sorry to lead off on a tangent; mail me through my website and we can talk more then if you like.

sorry no help to this thread, but tony, bloody good work on that site mate, some top shots in there. i had to chuckle at your link though, we have all had the creased sheet pre photoshop saying 'somethings not right, maybe i should iron it" haha
Thanks Quite proud of it, just a shame I don't get time anymore to take the shots, then edit them, then update the site! So many shots that aren't even up there. All good fun though!! (and trying to learn web design while doing it; I'm a glutton for punishment!)
