Remote timer bulb for Canon
Discussion
I was looking for the Canon remote for my 20D (TCND something or other IIRC, I've had one before), and came across these:

Anyone had any experience of these? I can't see what could possibly go wrong, chances are they've just ripped the Canon one apart, copied the circuit, and put it in their own generic case.

Not used one of those, but if it mimics the Canon version exactly, then it's good value for money. I've seen the TC-80N3 advertised at £150 by some UK sellers (it can be bought cheaper, obviously) so £13 for the mimic sounds like a good punt.
I'm not sure what the lowest price is that you could get the Canon release for, but it won't be anywhere near that sort of figure.

Right I'm going to buy one then.
I normally don't support buying cheapo Chinese copies, after all it harms the development of new products from companies such as Canon, but feck it I already bought their camera and lenses

At the end of the day, the likes of Canon and Sony are taking the wee-wee when it comes to remote releases, remote release timers etc.
Basically all they do is short out a combination of three pins, with a varying degree of sophistication (wireless, timers etc), for which they charge an arm and a leg (or in Sony's case they charge an extra leg if you want a longer piece of wire!).

Got it, looks ok, well built, takes 2x AAA batteries which were included in the box. The plug into the camera is nice and tight.
Shutter release/hold button works fine, the timer is simple to figure out, the manual is good, clear and concise.
I'm having an issue where the auto timer won't activate the shutter - this could be my cack-handedness, I may have a setting wrong on the camera, or it could be a firmware issue (firmware is very early). It could also be the wrong unit as the C1 and C3 look identical, but the box says C3 so I'm unsure.
