Hi folks,

I've currently got a Nikon D50, bought new with the twin lens kit - an 18-55, and also the 55-200.

I've had it for almost two years now, and having frequently used it for both photography at track days, racing events, aircraft, I've found both lenses can sometimes be a bit slow to focus, or spend time 'hunting' and subsequently missing the action. Now, I'd like to upgrade my kit, yet I'm unsure whether to update the body - or just buy a few good quality, quick lenses. Would lenses solve the problem or is it an inherent issue with the camera itself and can only be sorted by getting a newer model?

I'm currently happy with the quality of pics from the D50, and initially thought lenses would be the cheaper way to go to upgrade - however, after seeing the prices of some lenses, I'm not so sure. What would you do?

Thanks.

Jenx

If you're happy with the images you get with the D50 then I'd go for the lenses.

Lenses - every time.

I'm only now changing my D70 body for a new one - I have been getting new glass instead to date

Keep using the body with the new lenses and then upgrade when you feel you are finding that the D50 is no longer able to do what you need it to do wink

Thanks for the advice guys.

I'm off to look for lenses - any 'must haves'?
