It was a bit quiet on the forum around the recent Bank Holiday weekend, and I suspect many people have been away.

Now you're back, how about posting your favourite holiday snaps here? Either a themed group or a random selection, colour or B&W, UK or abroad.

Just pick a maximum of six from this year's holiday and add them to this thread.

Here's my contribution - six from Crete last month. Click the links after the pictures for larger versions.

Haven't been there that early in the year before - couldn't believe how green it was:

I had a week in Spain. I spent most of the time retiling the kitchen, but I did manage to get out walking before it got too hot a few times...and by walking I mean looking for butterflies (sad git). Anyway, managed to see this little lot from only 3 different areas:-

Common Blue
African Grass Blue
Small copper
Speckled Wood
Brown Argus
Southern Gatekeeper
Mallow Skipper
Lulworth Skipper
Meadow Brown
Wall Brown
Lang's Short-tailed Blue
Cleopatra
Clouded Yellow
Southern Marbled Skipper
Spanish Festoon
Swallowtail
Small White
Geranium Bronze
Mediterranean Skipper
Painted Lady
Blue-spot Hairstreak
Spanish Swallowtail
Spanish Marbled White
False Ilex Hairstreak
Dusky Heath
Marbled Skipper
Ilex Hairstreak
Holly Blue
Red Admiral

A few of my favourite photos...

Spanish Swallowtail

Spanish Festoon

Mediterranean Skippers

Lulworth Skipper

Cleopatra

Martin - if you spent all your time there then you should you have included a pic of the kitchen. biggrin

Did you choose the area for the wildlife or are there that many varieties everywhere in Spain? I never seem to spot more than two or three types in any one place.

You might want to edit out that curly bracket in one of the image addresses too.

I haven't had a holiday this year frown ... But I am off to Paris for the weekend next month bounce

I love the first shot Tony. It makes me want to visit Crete. This thread has plenty of potential.

No, I just got lucky I guess, but I try to look for old riverbeds...river = water = flowers = butterflies and other insects.
