Hi all,

Just after a new point & shoot camera, predominantly for general use - nights out, random funny stuff, capturing stuff I stumble accross. NOT pro-photography, so, I want an ultra compact, which I can have on me at all times. Read small = good.

I've seen the Fujifilm Finepix Z20, 10mp, well built (my wife has an old one which has stood through much abuse), and importantly, really small, so it's no chore to have it on me at all times.

What are the other alternatives? I'm in the US, so my budget is circa $200. The above camera is currently on a deal with a 2gb SD card for $165. Not bad.

Any other options would be greatly appreciated.

Pana range with the Lumix lens.. Can't be beat, imho. They've now got 10x optical zoom and 28mm at it's widest, ideal for taking both shots indoors, landscape and close-ups!

The only downside is the Panasonic mini-usb ended cable... why they couldn't stick to the same mini USB end as almost everyone else is anyone's guess!!

I got my wife the older version, which "only" has 3x optical zoom (so still does 28 --> 100ish) and only 5Megapixels or so...

Another vote for Panasonic Lumix, the FX33 is excellent and has just been replaced by the FX35 (36 for some markets). Both are excellent cameras, very much point & shoot, very small, extremely well-built and the intelligent mode thingy on them is remarkably good.

The cyber-shot I have is excellent, very small, light and looks smart. Heard nothing but praise for the lumix range though so no doubt a good buy.

Edit: should add the cyber-shot takes a damn fine picture too considering its an old model now only 7.2mp and only 3x optical zoom.
