any tips on sourcing and obtaining kit from the US - I'm looking for a Canon 100-400 IS L lense - best UK price I can find is a shade under £1k (may be able to cut that back a bit) whereas plenty being offered for around USD$1350 in the US - I'm not back in the US until Sept and my wife's birthday is Aug so exploring online options

any suggestions for suppliers/do's and don'ts

Have you considered:

http://www.onestop-digital.com/catalog/product_inf...

They are highly recommended by POTN. I've ordered from them - no problem at all. They also pay the tax if you get gripped by customs - they have a refund form to fill in

He'll also offer you a better deal if you trade outside eBay.

I'd also get it through Ian (Kerso) - I have had from him (so far) - Battery Grip, Sigma 10-20mm, Sigma 70-200 f2.8 MkII, Sigma 2x t/c, Nikon SB800 etc.

Great service & best prices.

thanks everybody for the feedback - got in contact with Ian at Kerso and did the deal - got a good price - seems to be equivalent to a good US price plus the duty so on a 100-400 IS L lens it is £210 better than I could find available in the UK

just hope it arrives

Looking at getting the same lens myself, be interested to hear what you think of it, see some pics. Cheers Roy.

It's a stunning lens, here's a few shots from mine in the meantime, shot with my 350D and 40D..
