Diffuser = softbox?I was nervous about flash at first but quickly abandoned continuous lighting because it makes the studio bloody hot and isn't very bright. I'd suggest you head for eBay and get some s/h stuff to see how you get on. I started with a three head Elinchrom set that way and have added and sold bits as I figured out my needs.
One little known benefit of the D70 is that is has an electronic shutter, so whilst more expensive cameras with electromechanical shutters synch at around 1/250th, the D70 will get up to about 1/2000th.
