These seem to be sold out everywhere - does anyone know a place that has them in stock?

Many thanks!

From Nikonian forums:

"I was checking the Nikkor lenses offering on B&H & out of the 37 USA models listed, 13 are "Out of Stock" today: 200-400, 200 f/2, 200 f/4, 300 f/2.8, 300 f/4, 70-200, 80-200, 400 VR, 500 VR, 600 VR, 50 f/1.8D, 85 f/2.8, 24 PC.

I am pretty sure the D700 will not help shorten this list."

Not just in the UK it seems!!

Only place seems to be the usual far east Ebay outlets..... I'm looking for one (at the right price) too, they review 5/5 everywhere I've looked and sound like a superb mid range 80% lense for me.

Found one at Calumet but they're top money so I'll wait. Can't open the RAW files anyway so I'll use it as a doorstop until then nuts

I'm pretty sure RAW files are the same no matter what lense you use tongue out

Ha, yes indeed! What I meant was that my full use of the camera is stymied by two things, the lens and the RAW issue (D700). And to misquote Peter Wheeler of TVR, 'I'm not having anything Nikon in my computer' hehe

Lightroom? Had the same issue when I switched to D300, but Lightroom is just the ticket so far......

If that's the AF-S 24-70 2.8G ED - I just bought one from Grays of Westminster.

Ah yes, but at what price though..... £1k seems to be the entry price. TBH I don't think they'll be coming down any time soon so will have to just save a little more..... frown

Would be interested to see what kind of results you get with it.

Yep - just over a grand - but I was doing a part ex. I assume they are so difficult to find because the D700 has just come out and everyone wants a FX lens - there will be a st load of s/h 17-55 DX lenses out there now.

Apart from those that have a DX camera as back up and therefore end up with two parallel systems, doh!

Yep - it's what I'm doing, but I'm keeping a telephoto on the D2X and putting the 24-70 on the D3. Hopefully It'll cut down the lens swapping by 90%

D300 users should watch out for second hand 17-55 DX though - a very good lens.

You're going to carry a D3 and a D2X around!? yikes

You must work out. Since I went from a D70 to a D2X my bag weight seems to be like a small child swinging on my back after a couple of miles!

I was going to suggest a 28-70 but it seems they are pretty hard to come by as well and the same price. Might as well stick to the newer model I guess.
