Bins are like lenses - you get exactly what you pay for.

A 'reasonable' set will only be reasonable compared to your expectations. If you want to spend proper money, I would definitely speak to a decent & 'proper' supplier ( like http://www.sherwoods-photo.com/index.htm ) as you need to talk about what you want to view (animals, buildings, planets etc).

IMO - a reasonable pair would let in lots of light... and that's what costs the money.

Opticron, Nikon etc are the leading brands, but there are many from Eastern Europe that are very good.

If you pay peanuts, you'll get a monkey.

it depends on what you want from them , what are you using them for ?? what budget do you have ?

do you want compact or full size , light gathering depends on various factors ie magnification and size of objective lens

opticron have a good range to suit all budget ( £60 - 600 ) , minox are good mid-price bins (£250 ish)

they are all different dont buy without trying them tho whatever you get, bins are as individual as people !

I've just bought a pair of Nikon 8x36 Monarch from Microglobe for the wife, for birdwatching. They're not really small (travel may be an issue if you're weight restricted), but let in a good amount of light and are fantastically clear. Microglobe seemed very good prices whilst I was loooking.
