For a gentle introduction

http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/high-dy...

For a much more detailed one, and some utterly splendid pictures..

HDR turning out st photos with a wow factor since 2005. Good luck having a play with it but dont forget the basics of taking photos before you use the HDR too

I won't really have much use for HDR in the kind of photography i enjoy, But feel it may come in handy sometime. I've only really just ventured into shooting in RAW, and don't have much experience post processing, I'm normally quite happy with my pictures as i take them.

Cheers for the links davidd!

actually no I cant, I have my thoughts but fk them you do what you enjoy fella! Do try lowering the lumins a bit though and reduce the micro contrast to get ride of halos

But the thing is it works best where you have strong contrast levels between dard med and high light.

I must admit HDR gets thrown around far too much jsut for the sake of it.
Like Powerpoint, just because you have a CD of clip art doesnt mean you have to use it all lol
Personally, the few times I've seen HDR work or done well it was with black and white as it makes roe use of the tone and shading.
I'm afraid on the colour pic above it does nothing for the pic that some subtle adjustment layers in Photoshop wouldnt sort out instead.

Installing photomatix is like getting your first slr, "look what it can do on Auto, look what it can do on Auto!", it's really easy to go over the top with it though. Keep tinkering with all the levels, and find what is best.

This is one of my latest attempts with photomatix, this was 6 exposures, color selection done in photoshop, then some "minor" hehe adjustments in lightroom.

and another..

I'm not saying these are great, just showing the more subtle side of hdr (although, the landscape isn't exactly subtle biggrin)

First of all thanks for your honesty!

Second of all, I don't have a clue what i'm doing with it, and i'm personally not that keen on the result i achieved.
I might try again at somepoint in the future, but for now i think i'll stick to pretty bog standard photohraphy!

Try to make the use of HDR subtle as opposed to in your face.

In your face has it's time but using it subtlty is the skill.
