What have I bought.... Lumix FX100
Discussion
I've been planning to buy a compact camera as I'm fed up of the batteries on my s602z running out all the time.
A mate suggested the Olympus MU1030 as I need something quite hardwearing for lots of "car is in bits" type shots so the Olympus being shockproof and waterproof seemed like quite a good idea.
However, that went right out of the window when I went into Currys in Moorgate and ended up being sold a Panasonic Lumix FX100 that was on special offer down to £169.99 from £269.99. He also chucked in a small Lowe Pro carry case. Very much an impulse purchase but they only had one left and they said I could return it for a refund within 14 days anyway. Apparently it's also quite good at taking video which might be handy.
So, is it any good or have I been had?

Never used the camera myself but after a quick search it doesn't seem too bad (assuming this is your model):

I think the price you paid is fair for the camera.
Hope that helps.

i've not used that one, but i've had the TZ1 for the last few years and just replaced it with a tz5. Got to say i'm very impressed with the Panasonic cameras, they take a good picture with little faffing about, are ver comfortable to use and have just enough features on them to have a play and get creative.
Bear in mind i use mine along side my other toy which is a Canon 30d with a few different lenses, while i'd not say the panasonic is as good, i have no issues with taking it where the canon would be a pain to carry (city breaks etc)
'personally' panasonic and sony are probably the only two point and shoot cameras i'd look at because of the quality of the glass in them, makes a big difference.
I only went for the tz-x series because of the zoom.

It is a really good little camera for what you have paid for it, I considered getting one myself, I have a lumix DMC-FX07, which has been a fantastic camera.
the only reason it is being discounted, is that panasonic are bringing out a newer version called the DMC FX-150 with 14mp.
I was looking to buy the FX500, but did not like the touch screen, tempted by the LX3, but purchased the new DMC - FX150 this morning, so far I an very happy with it.
