£125 will get you a Ricoh Caplio R7 (which is apparently better than an R8) or £120 will get a Canon Ixus 70 both of which are highly rated

After playing with many and reading so many reviews i've just bought the Ricoh R7. What everyone says about it being loud there lying, it very loud!
No sneaky pix with this camera.
Battery charged so now need to go and find an excuse to go for a wander.

R7 is full to the brim with digital noise - even in moderate light, photos are grainy. Tis a real shame, other than that, it's a great little camera. Very small, very light and good metering.

Doesn't seem too bad to me, not tried above 400 ASA though. Zoom is outstanding for such a tiny camera. Also did a firmware update to latest version which may make difference perhaps?
