I've got a Sony a100 that (when on holiday - of course!), has decided to manfunction.

A few odd things happened and then it refused to fire. Now it won't take pictures nor display anything on the screen. But I know that works because if I take the lens off and try to take a picture, the screen turns on and displays the 'no lens attached' message.

I can attach USB and have got the pictures off it so that's one consolation. I've been onto Sony's website and downloaded the manual to look for a hard reset (there isn't one). Looked for an update to flash (but you need the screen to confirm applying the update). Have also recharged the battery, but no difference.

If anyone could offer some pointers I would be grateful as the camera on my iPhone isn't quite the same!

Thanks

Ben

PS. Megahoon is GREAT! Drove up Mt.Etna yesterday, driving the Targa Florio today smile

I'm not familiar with the camera, but it may just be faulty connections between the lens and the body.

Try giving the small bronze-looking plates a rub with a cloth/t-shirt. Other than that, it's the age old 'take the battery out for 5 minutes, and hope for the best'.

Nope, doesn't work without lens or with.

Interestingly, it all just sprung into life, I took some pictures and viewed them... and now it's more dead than it was before - I can't get access to it via USB now.

I think the writing's on the wall - it's broken and staying that way !
