Hi guys and gals....

..I would like to request the help of someone whos rather handy with photoshop. I have my own website (www.dankemp.co.uk) which has just been re-hosted and is now being built and although I know my way around photoshop I fear my skils arnt as good as needed. I would like a nice new modern looking banner/header for the main page.

Size should be 800x150 (pxl) and I would like it to say DanKemp.co.uk Motorsport Photography and have a logo that fits the site, colours obviously should match/go with the main page.

I would be very thankfull of any help anyone can give.

Thanks

Dan

Im afraid zero....its a non profit website so free help if possible, if not I shall look through some tutorials and try and do my best. I can appreciate not wanting to work with out payment but Im afraid I just dont have cash to splash on such luxuries at the moment lol

Looking on your current website Dan I think you're putting yourself down a fair bit. You have some great looking shots on there and hopefully your new site will have an injection of some self confidence.

Im assuming your looking at the wallpapers section steve? since the new gallery hasnt started being uploaded yet. Im more confident than I was over a year ago when the site was first hosted and the homepage hasnt changed. Im not a pro but I've had some nice feedback so the homepage text will change to a more neutral welcome to the site. Also any coments on the new look of the site are welcome.

Yeah I was, realised that you'd probably taken the gallery down to swap it all over to the new site.

Yh the gallery will be back up by next week hopefully, then some fine tuning to the site over the next few weeks/months till its just the way I want it.

You don't want photoshop for a logo, you want a graphic designer.

Just looking at the site, get rid of this line:

Dankemp.co.uk said:
I have spent money on a fancy camera so some of my better pictures are probably down to camera quality rather than photographer skill, but I'll let you be the judge
There are some great pics on the wallpaper section, sell yourself.

I guess it depends what you want from the site, but I would suggest you don't bother with a whizzy header image, just write your name in a plain font with no serifs, nice and simple.

A header image detracts from what your site is about - showcasing your photographs. Let the images speak for themselves.

Well I do want to keep it simple but I dont want it to be just a bigger line of text, I want something thats going to look neat, simple, modern and stand out from the rest of the page with out being too distracting.

To provide an example of the kind of thing I'd like look at Leighton James website, his banner/header is nice and stylish with out being over the top.

(Leighton, hope you dont mind me using your site as an example, just remembered it being one that I liked the look of.)

Leighton did change the header from my original concept. I'm not overly sure about the "flower", seems a bit blurry/pixelated/large to me. As long as Leighton is happy though, that's all that matters!

My concept, must have taken around 30 minutes to design, mainly drawing the camera/washing machine hehe

Give photoshop a bash DKM, there are tons of tutorials on google!
