Best rechargeable batterys for a Speedlite camera flash

My old rechargeable battery's are already worn out after just 3 months of use so I need to get some new (better ones). To be honest at just 700mAh they were pretty crap, but I've just found out that Duracell are doing some 2650mAh AA's however they're pretty pricey.

Does anyone use them and how long do they last on a flash? Are they as good as Alkali battery's?

If not, what ones do you use?
