Remote Shutter Release

Looking at getting a remote shutter release for my Sony A100. Having looked at fleabay, looks like there are some non-Sony kits available at a fraction of the price of a Sony one. Anyone any advice on whether I should be splashing out, or will the cheaper option do the trick?

I am only intending to use it occaisionally for the odd long exposure shot, so I am thinking the cheap option!

I got a cheap remote control from Hong Kong, via ebay, for my Nikon. It works a treat and saved loads over the Nikon price. Only took just over a week to arrive too.
