Came across this site and looked at the photos and its just like wow!!!

http://stuckincustoms.com/

things like this are just amazing

now can some of the more talented photographers on here tell me how he does this and the other city shots as i have some photos that i would love to alter and make better.

Does anyone know of any good websites that could tell me to do basic editing.

Cheers

It's HDR. This guy has a tutorial on his site.

If you google HDR you'll find lots of others. If you want to download some trial software to give it a go, take a look here:

HDR and then a textured image set to a blending mode over the top of the HDR. AKA Joeyl style...

you'll be able to re-create the effect by following:

image>
adjustments>
cheddarisation>
move the slider all the way extra mature.

(this process works better if you start with a really boring/bad photograph)

Not seen his work before and I like it. Not really a fair comparison to the photo at the start of this thread!

Some of those are simply stunning (some are sh*t)

..and if anyone here hates > Personal > Portraits from around the world -

as well as hdr I'd say on the op photo there was a texture added then plended with multiply
there is a lot of snobbery against hdr simply because most of it is nothing more than a wk shot given hdr and then global mongs say oh its great

OP not suggesting you are a mong just generally HDR transforms wk to wow in the eyes of many. Check out the Facebook hdr group

Yeah I only looked at his portraits. Very very good and utterly beyond my ability to recreate never mind improve!

However I think I could apply a stify filter just fine, and hey you don't even need a good pic if you are going to process that much!

yes

HDR DOES have it's place, but IMHO it's massively over-used because it's currently 'fashionable'...

Wasnt trying to create an arguement on here, i was just interested in how some of the shots were created like this one:

Some people might not like it, but i do, until someone wrote about HDR on this thread i neither knew what it was or what it did.

So my taste aint up to the obivous expert photographers on this thread, deal with it cause i have and this is for my own enjoyment, so if all you can do is sg off the method in which these pictures are created, please go somewhere else for your jollies.

I dont care it looks a little fake and hasnt got the amazing compositions that some of the pictures i have seen have.... that enough by me...

who has sgged you off? Who exactly?

The point that was/is being made is that it is HDR and some other processing and yes I like that shot too because when done right HDR can look bloody spectacular, unfortunately, it is very rarely done good and has increased the number of utterly wk shots being uploaded.

That shots nice, it shows it off well however this is what was being mentioned also -> http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=22048...

When I hear a piece of guitar music, I know what chords are being played and where on the neck they're being played. In some cases, I can name the notes and tell if the tuning has been altered

After a while, you start to hear the notes rather than the music
