My sister in law is starting to go for some basic acting jobs, some modelling etc, but she needs a portfolio of photos to be put forward.

The agency that will be putting her forward for some are saying that it will cost £200, includes make up, photos, folder etc (and is her's to keep).

Is this a fair price considering they know what they will be needing for a portfolio, or should we be looking at alternatives?

Any pitfalls that she should be looking for as well. I will be stressing about not signing anything until at least I have had a look at it.

TIA

£200 for a portfolio is cheap and will probably show.

Careful with agency portfolios. They tend to be done by the in-house photographer as a way to make money off a model who will then just sit on their book not earning herself any money.

I see you're in Surrey. Contact this guy: Vicky's friend

He's in Surrey. He's very good, freelance and does lots of folios for some top London based agency girls/freelancers. Tell him "VickyTLC" directed you to him and he'll look after you. smile

Main thing she needs are a good clean headshot with no make up and a full length shot.
See if she can get some comp cards made up with a few shots, stats and contact details.

Also (as mentioned) ModelMayhem.com, Purestorm.com and Net-Model.com are all good places for her to have a dig about for advice.

If you need any more advice (from a p/t model) shout up!
Wish her luck.

ps: How tall is she?

Not overly any more. Thanks to modelmayhem and the like there are a lot of keen amature photographers that just want to shoot hot girls for not much money. While they're not fantastic photographers they do occasionally take a good shot and have brought the market down.

There's also http://www.thekerriparkeracademy.com/ but that's more glamour based I think.

Hey... she's on Hollyoaks most nights, (never seen it myself) so at least you don't have to visit me to see her.

Well she might have looks on her side, but obviously hollyoaks don't pay too well. The elastic is totally coming away from her undercrackers, and that bra looks a little loose fitting too. She's obviously not been eating well recently.

Nice chaise though.

I'll be very disappointed if this wasn't taken in the smoking lounge at Get Towers.

If I did said photos in Get Towers, I don't think she would be the best subject - the wife might have a few 'issues'.

Out of interest, Zoe's a really bright, well educated, savvy kid. And earning a shed load from Hollyoaks. Life is really good for her and she's worth it.

The only thing wrong with her (apart from being related to me of course) is that she has hooked up with a musician.

Bad news.
