Hi Guys,

I need a bit of advice....

I am putting a collage together as a bday present for my mum however I want to scan in loads of old photos. However I am having a trouble with the scanner I have at home (and have a deadline fast approaching) and was wondering if anyone know if I can take them to boots for example and if they can put them on CD for me?

Any advice/help would be appreciated!

Cheers
Adam

I photographed all my old prints the other day.

quicker than scanning and it looks quite cool imo!

I used a couple of flash heads but you could use window light and a reflector/white card on the other side if you don't have flash.

^^^ Yep, a quick fix is to set the photo up in natural light, then rephotograph, taking care to stay in line with the centre of the photos and use a little telephoto (assuming you're using a compact) to reduce distortion. Turn the flash off; let the daylight do the work.

If youre really stuck, jst go into Curry's or PC World ( or similar ) and pick up a cheap printer scanner copier. they sell them for next to nothing as they mak more money on the consumables. Should get a canon entry level for about 40-50 quid.

Tesco Extra and Asda stores near me also have such facilities so I would guess that would be the same nationally.

I just used these guys - www.pro-scan.co.uk - to scan a load of old negs. Great service and very reasonably priced. Am sure they could cope with scanning prints as well.

HTH.
