I've got a few digital photos I want to get printed and framed. Where do you folks recommend for a decent printing service? Lots of places do printing such as Jessops and even Tesco, so I'm keen on recommendations.

Excellent - thanks a lot folks - I'd never have found these guys myself, but their prices seem very good and they're obviously highly recommended :-)

PhotoBox isnt bad, if your mass print a load, however people get stuck in there ways in having prints done because there cheap etc, i mean there cheap, which is great, but if your having something blow up and frame i'd want quality.

I was curious about this. Ive started printing some photos for competitions. I had a couple of photos printed in both Lustre and Gloss and in comparison the photos were completely different in colours, massive differences. So which one is right? Well actually neither.

I really recommend Loxley Colour to anyone. They will print in virtually any size, various print options, paper choice... (metallic is quite cool, providing you havent adjusted the photos saturation). You can always get them on the end of the phone and they can advise you what looks best etc. They do the whole works and to be honest there not much more exspensive than photobox.

Possibly the best bit, they do colour correction free of charge!
Prices: 6x4 £0.55, 8x12 £1.90

No i don't work for them lol)

I've got no complaints about the quality of large prints from photobox, and I've had a lot done. Nor have I had any problems with colour, although I am using a calibrated monitor.

The one time I had an issue with one print from an order, Photobox reprinted the whole lot free of charge.

I agree Dobbo, ive had a lot of stuff by Photobox, and ive never complained untill i joined a photography club and really looked close.
If your serious about prints, i would recommend looking elsewhere and comparing the difference.

If your going on customer service, i recently had 6 prints done, i didnt know if any of them would work in metallic, so after submitting the images i phoned Loxley. I spoke to kate who ended up printing them all in metallic 8x12 for me, free of charge, because she couldnt decide what would work best.

Just my opinion of course.
(ps i'd trust my camera and printing service over any monitor.

Same here. Why would I want them to colour correct the image If I've already produced the image on a colour calibrated montior? As long as their printers are calibrated too it should be printed the same as I saw it on my screen. If they "correct" my image then it stops looking the way I intended it to look.

Not sure I understand this - are you saying you print all your photos straight from the camera unedited?

Im gonna get this going in a new post.

It doesnt matter where you have it done, it will look just as good.
