Please can someone suggest a good new camcorder. I am not fussed about HD or any of that but it must be compact, have some good features but crucially, an AV IN plug.

That is all!

I've got a Panasonic NV-GS330 which is a great camera for the money. Not sure about the AV In plug though.

I've got a 280. Great camera, but have you found that the OIS can give a "washed effect" to the image when you are panning?

The Pana HDC-SD9 is effectively £337 in-store at Jessops till end of Dec.

£429.99 minus 10%, minus £50 cashback.

HDef SD card with 3CCD.

Thanks mate but looking at the spec it doesn't. Apparently they are rare as camcorders that can record from external sources are classed as VCRs and therefore subject to much higher import duties rolleyes

AV IN is the killer problem as you now know frown What about something like this http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/dvx-h264-pocket-recor... if you're always recording via AV?

Thanks Phil. I've been looking at their kit. I will be getting some cameras from them but a bit loathed to buy specific recording equipment when a new camcorder could do the job plus be useful for filming other things as well.

I've been using a Sony DCR HC90E for over 2 years now. mini-DV, widescreen and crucially DV IN. You can't buy them in the shops anymore, but a quick search on the bay shows this:

That's a good price for a great bit of kit, get yourself a cheap bullet cam and bobs your uncle:
