Hi, anyone know who can scan my transparencies? I have a few of my best images taken on the old RB67 which I need digitised.

Preferably in the London or Home Counties areas if poss so I can take them in rather than having the hassle of posting as most are one-offs so if they're lost their lost eek

Only requirement is that they must be a professional operation, i.e. I'm not looking for a budget way to scan or anything, just the highest quality scans.

Will be interesting to see the file sizes of the resulting scans!

I haven't had anything scanned for many years, so this recommendation isn't from experience, but I hear good things about this company :

Cheers dude but they look like £40-£50 per scan and I may have 30-50 scans at least, even if I'm really only concentrating on my best images...

Gulp. I may be better off buying a scanner? That's what I did when I archived my 35mm transparency collection and then I sold the scanner. However a scanner capable of dealing with 6x7 will be rather expensive...

Guess I'll keep looking.

another thought is :

http://www.genieimaging.co.uk/greenlab/digital_pri...

they are £28 per-scan for 6 or more scans, and I bet you could ask for a hefty discount for 30 or more scans?

Or how about hiring a scanner? Not sure who does that though. You could start with the Association of Photographers :

http://hub.the-aop.org/

or :

again - I can't vouch for the quality, this is just a name I have heard mentioned in photographic circles.

Good luck.

Cheers I'll be mercenary about which transparencies I want scanned meanwhile and maybe base who I use in how many I end up with. I do think I'll have quite a few to be scanned though!

do you need drum-scan quality? You can get surprisingly good results from a basic Epson scanner :

it's a job I find a bit like having teeth pulled though!

Yeah, I found scanning 35mm on a Nikon Coolscan was like that, 6x7 will be like being hung, drawn and quartered.

P.S. I don't think that Epson would be good enough!
