Quick photoshop question

I'd do it by using paths to draw a set of lines round the shape of the table (easy because it's all straight edges so straight line paths are ideal), then create a selection from the paths, then either creating a layer mask with the selection or low down and dirty delete the unwanted ares. Then add a layer below for your white background. Would possibly consider adding a SUBTLE drop shadow so it looks planted.
Simple way would be to use the magic wand tool and selecting one area of the table, then holding down shift(?) and selecting another area (colour) until you have the whole table pixels selected. Then ctrl shift I to invert selection (so the background is selected) then layer mask, fill or delete as before. However this won't give anywhere near as good a result as going the path route and you'll need to play with the tolerance on the magic wand to get it selecting the right stuff.
Have a look in the useful photo links sticky thread (in this forum) for some good photochop tutorials.

Basic intro to paths, probably better stuff out there though.

Excellent, thank you very much.
Will the try the 'paths' technique, as it needs to be good as it will be on our new website.
Tried the lasso tool at work this morning, was a struggle to get to pick up the shiny steel top of the workbench then I just tried to use the eraser, as you can imagine, that got messy!
Thanks for the link.
