Just back from St Lucia. Took some underwater pics for the first time so I thought I'd share a few!

Camera was a new IXUS 870IS, along with WP-DC26 housing. That was it smile

Here's a few tasters - I've uploaded the rest to my Flickr account in case you want to take a peek (I've only joined today, and I think the link to my photostream is http://www.flickr.com/photos/34371849@N07 but I'm not 100% sure!) Considering the basic setup I am very happy with how they've all come out. All pics were taken at depths between 5-45ft.

Cheers smile

Very nice indeed, I can just imagine the warm clear waters. Last time I dived there was back in 68, yes 41 years ago, dived off Soufrier, amazing place, we pulled in on HMS Minerva, a frigate, the local lads had lost their only fishing net, did the ship have divers on to find the net? they had been waiting for some weeks for a ship to arrive with divers on.

We duly dived, found the net at 120 fsw, lovely clear water, abundance of fish. That night as I went ashore, a coloured chap said "You found net, you come with me", he took me to the local bar, upstairs, there was a general meeting of the local group who owned the net, they were so pleased the net had been recovered, all night long it was free Barcadi and ice all night. What a night.

My dive log says "Visibility at 120 fsw, 30 - 40 ft, bottom rocky and very uneven, lots of coral and fish, water warm"

I envy you, must keep doing the lottery, and revisit St Lucia and see the Pitons again, if nothing else. By the way, diving shallow I have always said is the best place to be in to observe lots of colour and interesting things, why scuba doos want to go to 75 msw and deeper, is beyond me.

Cheers Viper - I can only imagine what it must have been like out there when you dived. Even more abundant and colourful no doubt. Luckily they have made the area a marine reserve, so touch wood the coral and sealife will only get better.

The locals were all very warm and hospitable - glad to see some things stay the same.

Link to Flickr certainly works. Some nice shots there - thanks for sharing - like the views and sunsets as well as those underwater ones.

Cheers Beano. Both camera's are new to me (as is photography beyond P&S!). Luckily the island is so beautiful that even a rank amateur like me can get some good shots biggrin
