Lightning Preservation Group Twighlight Thunder at Brunty
Discussion
I went up today to Bruntingthorpe for the LPG Twightlight Thunder event, the highlight of which was a demo by one of their two Lightning aircraft!! Unfortunately only one of the burners would light but even so it was very impressive! They are very temperamental and complex aircraft so they dont always play ball!
Here are a selection of my photo's from the day. I think a good day was had by all and what with the snow on the ground it made for something a bit special. And that was before the gorgeous sunset!!
Oh and not forgetting the mad biker who put on a good show for us!!
Anyways on with the photo's.... Hope you enjoy...

And finally to bed for the night...!

Nice pics...one of my favourite planes ever*.
How do I find out when they're conducting the next run...would love to see them fire-up!
* There's one sitting as a 'gate guardian' at the bottom-end of Rochester Airport, which we often pass when visiting my folks...can't help but look at it every time.

The next full open day with all the jets running is on 3rd May. This will include all the jets inc Lightning, Victor, Comet, Hunter, Jet Provost and maybe Buccaneer if very lucky!!
There is a photographers evening with the Lightning aircraft I believe in April. On this day though there is no running, purely static.

Lovely pics, I like the two highlighted by Mikee boy and Gold.

For give my ignorance, is this nose on to a Vulcan? I've never been right up close to one of these beasts but did see one do a flyby at RAF Finningley many many years ago
Chris
That'll be a Handley Page Victor;
