You've been practicing!

First impressions good, nice model, nice snow, I like the fill flash. On the downside the colour seems a little cool or needs more punch, and your lens vignettes, but overall not bad at all.

Thanks for the feedback Simpo. I added the vignettes myself. No vignetting on a 1.3 crop camera smile Will have a look at warming them up and see what that looks like, but I wanted to keep the pictures pretty cool, to emphasise the weather.

Will put some other shoots up later. smile

Number two's really popping to me, good pose and the blood red coat really works well with the winter background.

Keep the colour cool on them - it suits the environment. I think they're a cracking effort, and though I'm bighting my tongue as I say it - I hate spot colour - I would actually slightly desaturate the background further still so that the eye is focussed solely on the model.

My favourites: 2, 4 & 7 - a real feeling of Soviet propaganda about them.

Thanks for the comments. :-)

The colours are as they were on the day of the shoot. Overall levels / saturation have been adjusted, but no spot colouring done.

Really great set of images!

My only comments are I find the blown out snow at the bottom/centre of image 3 a little distracting, and as an observation, the red coat varies in tone between the different images.

LB that is a good set, your model is striking without being 'pretty' and suits the setting. Only thing is with photo 3 the profile view does not suit her, all the others at full or 3/4 face on look really good. Also the barge in the background is a bit distracting the better photos are where you have good bokeh.
Her make-up is also well done with interesting treatment of the eye lashes. All of which holds the interest of the viewer.

All IMHO

4 and 6 for me - I actually like the vignetting you've added - and the model really suits the shots.

Agree with the barge and the snow in 3 being distracting and that the best ones are with the shallow depth of field.

Overall assessment - I wish I could take photo's that good!

Cheers

couln't see these when i was at work. just dug them out on the strenght of this photo you've posted on the comp thread.

i think the set is really nice as a whole. the russian theme you've got going on really works with the snow. one of the things i like best is the falling snow lit by the flash and the breeze in the models hair. really makes the images. you should shoot more people!

Is that a wise suggestion given the guy's ph moniker?
