Hi, I'm after a monopod, maybe Manfrotto. Do I really need a separate QR head or can I just screw the monopod into the camera base ? Well I know I can just screw it in but should I ?

I'm thinking the only benefit of having a QR head is speed of set-up, but how long can it take to screw a straight pole onto the camera ?

Or am I missing something here ?

If you just screw into the pole then you would be stuck with landscape orientation wouldn't you?

I bought this and a Jessops ball head for about £30 including a £5 discount for the head and have been really happy with them.

I always screw straight onto the lens but both the 35-350mm and the 120-300mm have got collars, so no problem if I need to change orientation.

That looks decent enough, thanks for the advice smile
