OK everyone the subject of the competition is

DETAIL

This can be of anything that you think meets the criteria, there is no one subject it can be anything you choose - Architectural, automobile, natural world it is a very open subject.

I would ask that it not be Macro photography which is a subject in it's own right.

Interesting smile

As with last month I'm going to try and get something new to enter. Here's some old stuff which may or may not work...

Beginners silly question, so what defines Macro - it can't just be magnification because zoom lenses do that too?

I guess its down to the ratio of the size of the object in real life compared to its size projected onto the sensor (or film smile).
Something that 1:1 is macro, probably 1:2 is also....
...not sure where to draw the dividing line after that though smile A job for the judge I think hehe

Cheers.

Hi Wendy and thanks FPC, my view is that if you use a non-macro zoom then you get a close-up, which is fine, it brings out 'detail' but when it is at 1:1 then it's macro. It is down to the individual what they post but I will make my choice purely on the best 'detail' photo in my very humble opinion.

Some good stuff showing up already.

FP, as I have said before your detail shots are your strongest - good selection as always!

Since you ask, how does this fit the theme of detail?
