This lens sold on eBay for £94. It's a first generation lens which ceased production in 1990 and the present owner bought it used. Ths brand new replacement is reviewed as being better and retails NEW at around £80. Have I missed something or is this just another case of eBay-itis?

Some people think the Mk1 is better than the Mk2. Also don't discount the fact that lots of people on eBay are just stupid smile

Without even seeing the ebay ad, I knew exactly what lens you would be talking about smile

I seem to recall the Mk1 is metal where the Mk2 is plastic, so some prefer the earlier one to the later.

I have the Mk2 and think it's a fantastic lens!

OK thanks. I'm looking for a mk2 and the price seemed a little (a lot actually) for a 20 year old lens.

Cheers

Just don't buy anything with an L in it... hehe

For the money, the "nifty fifty" is great.

The MK1 has a metal mount compared to the mk2's plastic. Apart from that there near identical I think.

MK1's always go for more
