HD camcorder question

We are considering buying a HD camcorder with built in hard drive.

Question I have is, when we view on our TV by connecting the wires up it will be in HD as we have a HD TV. But, will our standard DVD recorder not be able to record the footage from the camera onto a DVD, as the DVD recorder does not support HD/blueray.

Also, if we backed up the videos onto the hard drive on our DVD recorder thingy, would that be able to play it in HD?

Some HD camcorders will 'step down' as they transfer to a DVD recorder. So it will transfer, but not in HD.

I doubt videos transferred to the hard disk of the DVD thingy would show in HD.

Remember to connect via HDMI socket for HD.
