How is what done?

With a camera, one presumes.

Any chance you could be a bit more specific about the effect you are furring to?

OK maybe my question wasn't clear enoughtongue out

Obviously these are not straight from the Lens of a camera, just interested to know what sort of post processing was done on these

I really like the full screen slide show on that site. It doesn't mess around with the window sizes and it's quick. The pictures are nice too, particularly the ones with the GTR going through the water.

The GTR in the water could well be straight from camera, but he'd have to be one hell of a photographer.

The new york skyline looks like a HDR picture with a lot of photoshop work.

That guy is seriously good at putting an image together.

EDIT: I'm starting to think some of those skyline shots could be largely CG.

Some of the skyline shots look a little computer generated, almost a bit too good if you see what I maen (it looks like a gran turismo cover) however look at the water in the quad or jetski shots, he does something to it which makes it look almost HD like!

There is SERIOUS post production in each of those photos, must be days if not weeks work.

But simply wow.

Indeed. Whatever he does, he does it well.

Is it wrong I'm a little aroused by the quality of his work?

Not sure the NY skyline is CG, it really can look like that, esp just after a thunderstorm. It is most definitely ablend of differing exposures though.

As others have said, whatever the techniques there are some fantastic images in there

I love the site, really intuitive to navigate and removes any distractions.

4hero, is that sort of thing fairly easily done with Flash? I'm guessing it isn't otherwise you'd probably see more sites like that.

And therein lies the rub.

If you've zero flash experience, the full screen slide of images would be very quick to pickup with a copy of flash in front of you and the internet for tutorials. A day at most.

He has clever little bits like the preload of the next 3 images which would be harder to replicate, but by no means impossible if you're used to coding. Actionscript is a nice language and again, there's plenty of online tutorials to guide you through.

Back to the topic at hand, I could take your word "rub" and use it in an entirely different context, but I won't. 4hero already did wink

The design of Jeff's site is more or less exactly the same as a prototype I'm working on for my own site. Full screen (regardless of monitor resolution) and NO FLASH biggrin

Well I currently have approximately 0% Flash experience, but I'm still trying to wrap my head around C#, so it's probably best that I don't confuse it any further by trying to throw Flash into the mix too just yet.

As for rubbing, the pictures are very nice and all, but I'm at work and don't want to make a scene.

i would say only a few are actually photos, i am with you on the CG side of things.

After seeing this site i lost faith in magazine images being real at all.

http://www.taylorjames.com/cgi-retouching/index.ht...

they have worked with quite a few car companies and as you will see its mainly CG, press play to watch the step by step breakdown. rather interesting.

Without looking at that article (about to read it) I felt virtually all the car based pictures were CG. Also, in case you think I'm wrong, try finding the driver is most those action shots (the red GT-R being one of the few exceptions).
