Have a LUMIX compact that, when new took nice sharp pics. However over time it seemed to lose the sharpness. It broke and the warranty new replacement had nice sharp images, but again after 6+ months it seems to have lost the sharpness. I did notice a fingerprint or two and clean it with my shirt, but now am thinking I may have very micro scratches on the lens causing this?

So what can I do, do shops offer lens cleaning or polishing on a compact, and is it slow/expensive?

Some lens cleaner on a lint free cloth should sort that out. I've done it with mine, just turn it on and carefully give it a wipe. Makes quite a difference

Go to jessops, get a digi lenspen. They are like a normal lens pen, only wee.

Same here - and be more careful not to get your paws on the lens to start with smile

What's wrong with a lenspen? Been using them for years with no problems whatsoever.

What because you can't get grit on cloth? Like anything if you take care with it you will be fine. Since they come with a lid you'd have to be pretty special to get grit on the end - which is in no way abrasive when compared to a cleaning cloth.

Huffing on the front of a digital compact couldn't possibly go wrong what with how well weather sealed they are, you couldn't ever get moisture in the lens.

Whatever works for you I guess!
