What brands of filter should I be looking at for my D70s?

Are the Hoyas for sale on ebay ok ? -- they seem to be much much cheaper than shop prices?

I bought a second hand 52mm Hoya cir-pol from Ebay - It does the job as a polariser and I cannot any degradation in image quality that would warrant spending any more - depends I guess if you have a range of lens sizes and want one of the more 'adaptable' systems (Lee/Cokin off the top of my head)

Here's an example - click for larger, taken on D40 with stock 18-55 lens:

on ebay there seems to be Hoya filter in green boxes and ones in blue boxes --- there's a difference in price?

presumably they ARE different but by how much?

Not sure of specifics - mine came in a clear plastic box like a cassette. ..And I think, although I may have just made this up, it cost less than 10 pounds.

The hoya green box are your common and garden filter, the one in the blue boxes are Pro 1 which have multi coatings o them to reduce flare and ghosting on Dslr's.

That's the difference in price(I think the glass is thinner too).

If I were buying i'd go for the Pro 1.

IIRC if you search for Kood Pro 1 on ebay they are identical to the Hoya but for the Far Eastern market, also a lot cheaper.
