I'm doing mini tour of Barra, N&S Uist and Skye at the end of the month and am looking for a bag to carry my gear in. My current bag is now too small as I have just splashed out on a 100-400mm lens.

I was wondering if anybody could recommend a suitable bag/rucksack/backpack to carry the following - (all Canon) 30D body, 10-22mm, 24-105 and 100-400 lenses (not forgetting hoods). I'd also look to carry cleaning stuff, CF cards and filters.

clap to GetCarter for bringing Barra to my attention through his posts here and for answering my email on possible places to go and stay clap

I'm looking for the same sort of capacity, just with a couple of strobes added.

I'm quite tempted by http://www.warehouseexpress.com/product/default.as...

That's a lot of gear for one strap! I had the 200 and found it quite uncomfortable for any length of time.

My main bag is one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Not expensive, well made and THE most comfortable bag I've ever had no matter how much kit I've got in it. They also do one without the laptop section.

Hubby & I had a Lowepro Slingshot 200 until we outgrew it. It would take a 30D with Tamron 17-50 attached and 70-200 with room for all the usual bits and pieces (spare batteries, cleaning stuff and hoods in the top pocket). When full, being as the weight is on one shoulder, it wasn't the most comfortable of bags. Well made - yes, with a rain cover etc, but not fun for lots of walking. I can only imagine a 300 would be even worse.

We now have a Vertex 200 which takes tonnes more kit (30D w/Tamron 17-50, 40D w/17-40F4L, 70-200F4L, 10-20, Lensbaby Composer, Nifty Fifty, hoods, filters, cleaning stuff, batteries, remote releases etc). I love it. Maybe look at the Vertex 100?

There is a great site with reviews here http://www.cambags.com/ , complete with photos of what you can fit in.

Got a couple of bags, but the Lowepro Mini Trekker is decent! This is an old shot, but clicky to see what's all in it. There's also decent space in the top of the bag.

Tamrac Expedition 5 is a great rucksack, managed to pick up a nearly new one for a tenner at the beginning of the year. Does everything I'd need, EOS 1DMkII, 2x spare batteries, charger, 35-350mm L, 28-135mm, 20-40 F2.8, 550EX cards, flash batteries, etc etc
