Anyone watch the William Eggleston Photographer program one BBC1?

I have to say that I understand the fine art photography of the like of Henri Cartier Bresson and Frank Capa

But I have to say that the work of Eggleston mostly just looked like the rubbish you throw away, I was stunned to see the so called fine art education lecturers spouting such rubbish about Eggleston as though they worshiped his work. All I can say is that if they aspired to his work it is no wonder they are in the education system. As the old saying goes, "if you can't do it or make a living, teach it'.

I couldn't stop laughing are them talking about the Red Roof Picture.

It's probably fair to say that his stuff can be a bit hit and miss, but his 'hits' are fantastic IMO.

I'll be honest, I don't 'get' the red ceiling photo, but this is one of the best photos I've ever seen:

Exposure and sharpness are not relevant to Fine Art Photography.

I was saying it in jest, but I don't think I'll ever 'get' fine art photography. That's an average photo to me, which could have been taken by anyone with a point and shoot.
