Hi everyone,

Hope your all ok and photographing lots of things in this lovely crap weather!

I'm off to Australia in one months time and possibly, not coming back. Therefore during my last month here in England, I am interested in photographing some of Britains best landscapes.

I was just wondering, with a bit of your help if you could help me to pick a few locations in England & Wales that are particularly stunning, It's been so great to be a part of this forum and for the next year at least, I'm not going to be able to use it, therefore I felt this could be the best farewell. For the time being at least, you can expect one mother of a post when I'm settled down!

Cheers,

Leighton

Yorkshire Dales, especially Malham and surrounding limestone pavements at dawn or dusk. Upper Wharfedale; viaduct at Horton in Ribblesdale. Dawn light above Castleton on Mam Tor. Sunset across the Exe estuary.

Didn't see you there...hehe

Even more so under a blue sky, when the whole valley below is shrouded in white mist...

confused I think they have the interweb in Australia too Leighton. Or is this site blocked over there because there aren't enough Holdens on here?

The triangle between Oxford, Cirencester and Stratford upon Avon (the best bit of the Cotswolds).

The drive from Keswick down the Borrowdale valley, over the Honister Pass, past Buttermere, Then back to Keswick via the Newlands Vally, past Catbells, and Grange. (The finest scenery in England IMHO).

Good luck

Well, apart from the obligatory trip to the Lizard (on a dull, mizzly evening), I didn't really do that edge:

To be honest although Porthcurno is pretty special, once you start going east the rest of the south coast is mainly fishing towns like Mousehole and Penzance, and the beaches aren't that amazing.

Porthcurno is one of the best beaches in the country though, as is Sennen over to the west.

Or if you prefer a panoramic (click for bigger):

Thanks for some brilliant suggestions people!

Reg, I suppose it's more a case of that I will be too busy than that I can't smile

Cheers,

I really wish Mr Carter would stop posting photos, just when I think I've taken some decent ones recently I see some of his and get sickeningly jealous.

Being a dirty jocko I'll leave the scenic stuff to those who know better, but why not snap some of London for some human landscapes? It does have some cracking buildings.

You mean like this one?

(Possibly my favourite building in the world.)

Probably too many to list to be honest with you, but it just exudes English architecture. I'm not saying there's not other towns and cities worth photographing, but there's a photo round just about every corner in London.

(Scotland's no bad either, but I don't want to get Carter started again...)
