I've ordered a D300s for delivery in September - anyone else reserved one? I've been thinking of getting a D300 since the beginning of the year but the exchange rate hike in prices has put me off. I tried to get one at c£900 at the Focus Camera show in Jan but they'd sold out predictably. It might still buy one if the 300s depresses 300 prices!

I especially like the 300s dual card slot so I can use my stock of SD cards and the video saves me carrying the video camera too. Most of all the 300s is a 300 largely as is! Good! Shame its not 15M pixels though.

Good on ya, enjoy it when it comes. As a D300 owner there is nothing for me to make me think of upgrading, I will be waiting for the next FX camera or a price drop on the D700 i think.

Ditto and the resulting d700 fall. Or preferably the 7d/60d announcement so i don't have to switch brands.

Before you rush to buy into FX, note that your treasured collection of lenses will then be 'wrong' - not just the crop issue (which can be automatically dealt with giving 5Mp files) but the field of view issue. For example, if you use a (relatively manageable and affordable) 200mm f2.8 you'll now need a 300mm f2.8...!

I've decided to buy a std 300 instead and spend the difference on a second SB600, battery grip and background paper.

It takes awesome pictures!

well it did for a while! Shutter has gone sick after 45 days / 2400 pictures!

Got it changed for a D300s with a £200 contribution - result.

Only if you've exclusively invested in DX lenses.

As for needing longer lenses, the various tele-converters work perfectly well for giving you a bit more 'reach'.
