Apologies for the complete novice question but bare with me!

I want to get one with the right speed etc so that i can get the optimum performance out of my new SOny A200!

Will this be the right card to purchase?

Seems an excellent price for an 8gb!

Depends on how fast the Sony writes to the card. There are much faster cards out there, but not of any increased value unless the camera can make use of that speed.

San Disk is probably the best make, and an ultra 2 is a good speed, so I'd go for it.

You might also want to consider how fast the card can transfer files to your computer. If you find waiting for files to transfer to be a hassle, then I think a faster card will do it more quickly.

Lexar Pro 300x UDMA here - shifts almost 1Gb/min using a Hama USB2 card reader.

I have a 4GB Ultra 2 CF as the main card for my A300.

Shooting in JPG it'll get a constant 3fps without slowing down (as fast as the camera can do).

If I try to delete an image instantly after shooting it, I might get a "please wait" type message for half a second. But that rarely happens.

You can get faster but I seriously doubt you would be disappointed with that card.
