For events I recommend, then track days have to be the first for me. Hardly anyone there so plenty of time to practice!! You also dont have to wait for the chips in the restaurent (which are lovely btw :lol
As for race events I would say:
https://tickets.motorsportvision.co.uk/calendar/ra...
The Gold Cup. THE event of the year IMO. I have been waiting for this one all year! Some of the best cars you will see at Oulton all year round. Plus rally cars and a load of Owners Clubs makes for a fantastic weekend!
https://tickets.motorsportvision.co.uk/calendar/ra...
750 Motor Club. Non stop action all the way with this lot usually. Great racing and well run!
https://tickets.motorsportvision.co.uk/calendar/ra...
AMOC. The Aston Martin race meeting is a superb meeting with some really lovely motors!
https://tickets.motorsportvision.co.uk/calendar/ra...
The FInal Round of BSB It is the Superbikes. It is the last race of the season for the BSB. It is going to be amazing.
So I hope this helps and we get a few new photographers up at Oulton Park

Matt,
You are a star!

I have never been to Oulton and we are there in October with the TVR Challenge. This will really help.
Some great shots in there as well.
Thanks

(Mmmm maybe I could do one of these for Brands)

Spot on Matt, what a cracking idea.....this could or rather should be the start of a series of guides to be published.
I photographed motorsport professionally for 4 years during the early 90's, mainly motorcyles on the whole, with Oulton being my local circuit & your guide along with those covering other big venues would have been a valuable asset.
As you know, back in the 'pre-digital day' & when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, 50 ASA Fuji Velvia was mandatory & adjustments could not be made on the spot by simply viewing the results on an LCD screen at the back of the camera.
As a rule of thumb I would visit a new circuit during the week & have a good walk around the place to familiarise myself, there was always a helpfull marshal or fellow photographer to give a nod in the right direction.
I used to keep notes on my favoured spots from different venues & kept a video record of each track - TV coverage of race day would always begin with an onboard lap of the circuit & I had them all for reference.

Resurrecting an old thread, I know, but is it OK for me to take a printout of this guide, Matt?
If all goes according to plan, I'll be going to Goldtrack's Trackday on the 14th and having this handy will be priceless.
Will you be going? Be nice to thank the author in person (and get some on the spot advice
Cheers
Scott

Unforunatly, I am in college Monday-Wednesday so cant make it on a Tuesday or Wednesday college day (unless we get the day off!)
