I want to get a Digital SLR but cant warrant spending that much so am going to wait for the price to come down. In the mean time what do you reckon of the above cheaper digital camera?

I currently own a Canon EOS300 SLR and so will add a 300D when they drop low enough in 2-3 years time.

Those pics are very good quality. How much was the camera and whats the spec?

I basically want as much as possible for as little as possible. £200 max. (Especially now Im about to buy some lenses for the SLR!).

The one I have linked to is 5.0M pixels with 3x Optical zoom (and 4x digital). Seems good for £200 but never heard of the brand (Centon)

There's more to it than just MP. What happens after the shutter closes is important too. Last year I tried a Vivitar 2MP camera becasue it was cheap (Maplin). The results were so poor I sent it back. IMHO if you stick with a 'proper' brand you'll get nicer pictures. And is there any point in putting up with poor pictures for years just for the sake of saving, say, £40?

Having played with a 10D and 300D I have decided to save for the future instead of buying a cheaper digi cam now (I have an EOS300 at the mo).

BUT....
I just got a new phone and its got a digi camera on it so I ended up getting one free anyway!
(Even though its crap!)

What did you think of the differences between the 10D and 300D?

In this case about £500! (10D was 2nd hand).

Couldnt really compare properly as one had a an expensive Canon 300MM IS lens (the 10D) whilst the other had a cheaper 300MM Sigma lens. I also only had a quick go and viewing the pics on the cameras screen.

I was very impressed with the 300D, which I looked at more since the 10D is way way out of my budget.

The guy with the 10D was showing me the pics he was getting of the Tigers and Leopards whilst he was taking them and they were incredible. He had also brought some A4 prints he'd taken the week before of the Leopards and the quality was excellent. Looked as good as proffesionals pics using non digi, even on A4.

Animal pics (especially big cats) are good for viewing quality since there is a lot of detail colours and sometimes movement to look at.

This guy (10D) was an amature, a very involved amature.
His wife had the 300D which was his old camera.
