let's keep this to photography related for now!

I will start with my 40D battery grip - never used it, good example of why not, two weeks in Italian Lakes, nearly 4000 photos - one battery - and it still has charge left in it.

Noooo, you don't understand - the second battery is incidental, after all how long does it take to swap over a battery? The grips real purpose is that it gives much much better control of the camera both because of the extra buttons in portrait mode and also something to hang onto along the base of the camera. Oh yes, you also have to have one in order to attach the Canon wrist strap which is one of the BEST things I've bought.

For me it's a Manfrotto carbon fibre monopod. I just never find myself in a situation where it would be useful. I guess I'll have to take up ornithology. But God does it look lovely, all that carbon biggrin

The grip's real purpose is that it makes your camera look bigger and more expensive like the megabucks pro model wink

For myself, I have a D300 that's languishing as back-up because its NEF files aren't compatible with my favourite programme, and I can't get a single large histogram plus 100% zoom with a single button press. (It's all about speed and workflow...) Anyone want to upgrade from D200 to D300?

Sigma AF 10-20mm F4-5.6 after an initial flush of excitement with landscapes it didn't suit my photographic interests. Nikon fit and back in its box & mint...

I'd sell for the price of a new D300 (Nikon MB-D10) Battery Grip from Jessops... Anyone?

Canon 24-105L

Soft as ste, a real dissapointment. Still, at least canon stuck their prices up by 25% just after i bought it so makes ebay a viable exit.

Certainly not my 40D grip, I'd be lost without it.

Bought a couple of "cheap" zoom (non L) lenses, and was always dissappointed with the quality. Sold a couple of lenses at a loss, then finally took the plunge into the wonderful world of 100-400 and 70-200f2.8!

They aren't all like that, mine isn't. You should have taken it back.

+1 with the grip......I use them mainly to protect the camera body to a certain extent - it's a lot cheaper to replce a grip than the body!

Re; the monopod - I found mine invaluable for Motorsport, Football & Ice Hockey..........you obviously need to get some bigger glass wink

For me it's been not paying enough the first time round both body and lenses. So I use a 50D with a 100-400 and a 28-70 L but I've got a 450D, 75-300, a kit lens, a 35 and a 50 that I virtually never use.

Not sure if you're serious here - but depending on how much you want I'd be interested if you want to swap my D200 +cash your way (obviously).
